Sarge will never have official support for amd64, so it will never work
the way future releases do.  You have to use the unofficial sites for
amd64 sarge, since it is not a debian release.

Unofficial sarge-amd64 is being maintained.  Unofficial etch and sid no
longer are.  You have to use either unofficial sarge, or official
etch/sid.
