The program (Dalton, which is as free as mpqc is free) requests libacml.a. To
avoid overcomplications, I would be happy to have that. Could you suggest the
easiest way to get it as requested by configure to compile Dalton for amd64
debian etch?

1) open a browser
2) go to www.amd.com
3) click on the "Software Developers" link, in the "Support" column
4) on the new page which opens up, click on "Developer Tools", in the
"Developer Resources" column
5) click on the "ACML - AMD Core Math Library Windows/Linux 32/64" link
6) select and download the library version(s) you want (according to the
compiler etc. you want to use to compile your software)
7) install it somewhere where your system will find it (/usr/local/lib can
be one such place, for example); you may want to download both the 64 and
the 32 bit versions, if you also want to use the library with 32 bit
executables
8) if necessary, add the path to the library either to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH
environment variable or to the /etc/ld.so.conf file, run "ldconfig" to
upgrade your dynamic linker cache

enjoy,
Giacomo
