nforce4 + gt6600 (pce) X redraw problems
Hi!
I've been trying to install amd64/pure64 or amd64/gcc-3.4 for the past
few days, but I can't get X to work satisfyingly.
(Hey doc, my knee is hurting! ;)
Board: nforce4 sli (asus deluxe)
Graphics: pci-express gt6600 (from msi)
Symptoms:
Messy cursor (some static data). I'll try Software Cursor later, I
assume that'll work, so this is not very important.
Windows are not redrawn correctly. When redrawing window content after a
window above has been moved, or after the window content has been
scrolled, the part that needs to be updated stays white. Firefox draws
the underlines, but I get no text. When I mark the text, I can see it,
but after releasing the mouse button all is white again.
I assume this is due to some problem with X or the font rendering part
of it, but I haven't been able to find anything on the topic.
Do any of you have: Any pointers what to google for? Any easy ways to
get some debug information about this? (And places where someone can
tell me what it means ;) Or even better, patches or workarounds that
make my system usable?
