I don't see any pressing need for it apart from several people willing
to do the work. I also don't intend to invest much more than setting
up the infrastructure like mini-dinstall and wanna-build that I need
to setup for biarch amd64 anyway. Handling 2 or 3 archs doesn't make
much of a difference there.
I'm also intrested in the result. Problems the multiarch port will
have will partly show up in a 64bit only port, like
automake/autoconf/autoheader/libtool/... screwups. Comparing a pure
64bit compile against a multiarch 64bit compile could also help to
distinguish between multiarch induced bugs and general amd64 bugs.
So you see there would be some drawbacks and some benefits from it. I
won't stand in the way and I don't think anyone else from the
debian-amd64 team will. Its your time well spend or wasted depending
on the viewpoint.
