Re: Re: 1.4 JDK for Debian on alpha

Hi,
I'm a new debian-alpha user.
We (the Department of Information Scienece) have a DS20 Alphaserver, we nedd tomcat, and struts.
I tried to install tomcat with apt-get, and it installed it, but it didn't start.
I tried to compile some source - failed.
I tried to build from description : http://lists.debian.org/debian-alpha/2005/03/msg00057.html
FAILED

Anybody write me the correct description of install tomcat4.
PLEASE please ...

Regards, KrZ.

No way to use HP Java for Alpha.
You may find Compaq JDK 1.3.1. ...but you requestet 1.4. So, ok, this not.

You could only use Kaffe, GIJ or SableVM.
SableVM could run Tomcat if it's what you need.
Tomcat itself may run, but many applications running in Tomcat will just
spit out stack traces. Even Tomcat somtimes crashes. (I haven't found a
single JDK for Alpha running Tomcat really stable.)

Bad news, though.

Regards, Adrian.
