Re: Boot without auto-starting X



Stop at SRM Prompt, boot into aboot with the Flag "-fl i" and give the
boot command by hand adding a plain "1" at the end of the boot line to
boot only until runlevel 1. In /etc/X11/default-display-manager you can
comment out the starting line for your login manager. Like this you end
up at the login prompt of getty.

SRM >> b dka0 -fl i
[...]
aboot> l
[Your list of boot entries, retype the one you like and add 1 e.g.:]
aboot> 1/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8-1-generic ro root=/dev/sda1
initrd=/initrd.img-2.6.8-1-generic 1
[booting to RunLvl 1]
