Hm, my first try of the 2.6.0-test1 was not successfull:

atlas:~/linux-2.6.0-test1# make
make[1]: `arch/alpha/kernel/asm-offsets.s' is up to date.

My system is a PWS 433 running debian testing. How can I determine the
exact error message?
