Hello, (please CC my work address jean_seb@hybride.com if you reply, because I am not subscribed to the list at work, only at home)
I have googled this message, and it appears to be a common message when
compiling a new kernel, and seems to be related to initrd or grub parameters,
but I don't think I can change anything like that when booting from a CD. I
tried going into interactive mode in MILO and issuing the following command
:
boot sr0:/boot/linux root=/dev/sr0 load_ramdisk=1 and it goes through the same
boot procedure and stops with the same message (kernel panic).
I have found 2 possible alternate commands I will try tonight when I get home : boot sr0:/boot/linux root=/dev/ram load_ramdisk=1 boot sr0:/boot/linux root=/dev/scd0 load_ramdisk=1 (the second one is because
apparently, MILO calls the CD-ROM sr0, but Linux calls it /dev/scd0)
But I'd like to see if anyone else ever got this message, whether one of the above commands should work, or if anyone has any other suggestions to make it work. And why doesn't the CD just boot from the start? :-( Thanks, _______________________________________________
