Re: v2.4.14 kernel on Alpha: sound is not working

I fixed this problem by assigning irq/io/dma to the ad1848 card type.
Apparently, one of the changes in going from 2.2.x to 2.4.x was the
requirement to do this. I did not have to specify the hardware
parameters in 2.2.x. I actually ended up setting up the sound as
modules and using the modutils just like the Intel machines. I was
hoping to keep from using modules on my Alpha, but what the heck...

Does anyone know if alsa works on the Alpha? I understand alsa will
become part of the kernel in 2.5.x. If so, then how will different
machine types be integrated?

Anyway, the sound works fine now...
