I'd be in favor of doing that :). My kernel coding experience is still a bit
limited (so far only two patches in mainline), but I think I would be able
to do it.
AIUI this is an unrelated problem. We may need to bisect to get to the
bottom of this one.
I'll test different older kernels and see if I find one where it still works.
