That was my interpretation, but it seems, I was wrong. See on www.amiga.de
under Y2K for a description of the Amiga battmem clock capabilities.
As I understand it now, AOS just does what it is supposed to do, but hwclock
is a bit to stringent when deciding which date is valid and which not. Plus
there is a kernel bug, which writes invalid dates into the clock. Invalid in
the AOS definition... but Amiga designed it, so they should know whats
correct.

Just be patient, things have been discussed on linux-m68k and Joerg is
working on a workaround for hwclock and Kars is working on a kernel patch.
I think there will be new packages available, when hwclock is fixed (even
for slink).
Until then, what happens when you set the time with AOS and boot linux? I
just got the correct time under Linux, but maybe the Amiga synchronized with
the PC before I could detect an incorrect time. man rdate is you have a 2cnd
linux machine. But of course, during shutdown your clock will be corrupted
again until hwclock is fixed...
