But I was trying out my new Lite-On DVD writer this last weekend ( $80 after rebates at Best Buy ).
With dvdrecord, it would not detect as a dvd, but only as a cd.
It also gave me certain scsi command errors. Is this a known problem with
the Lite-On and dvdrecord?
a dvd

This list is not the place to discuss problems of this "dvdrecord" it has plenty
of known problems and the self called "maintainter" does not fix them....

1 - It's as good a place for discussing dvdredord as cdrecord, the list started discussing the original CD writer, cdwrite. You were sure that it was for all burner software then, it's a little late to change your mind.

2 - Some of us prefer to use open source software.

3 - dvdrecord still works well for some hardware, including mine. I would use other software but I'm tired of having programs tell me I have CD media in the drive because they don't like the DVD vendor code (probably a random number) while dvdrecord seems to either like it or be too stupid to check. In any case, it works.

It seemed like a good idea at the time
