[Nbd] Missing glib when running ./confgure - why ?

Hello,
I had downloaded nbd-2.9.2; I am running FC6 on x86_32 ;
./configue returns :
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.6.0... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly installed.
configure: error: Missing glib

But "rpm -q glib2" returns :
glib2-2.12.3-2.fc6
glib2-2.12.3-2.fc6

"pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0" returns:
Package glib-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `glib-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'glib-2.0' found

What should I do ?

Is it somehow connected anyway to the fact that there are rpm -q glib2
returns 2 instances ?

Regards,
Ian
