Calderas dd also has the "extra output SUS v2 deviation".
Verified this in Calderas sources (dd from fileutils):

dd remembers a odd extra character and saves it for output 
in the next call fileutils-4.0i. 

I think dd should offer to configure this behaviour out.

Do we have to fear that some scripts and or applications 
rely on this false behaviour?
