Motif APIs

I am relatively new to the LSB activities... I have searched the LSB mail
archives and I don't see any mention of the Motif APIs. However, I do see
Xlib and the Xt Intrinsics in the LSB specification.

Back in the early 1990s the UNIX community fought over OpenLook versus
Motif widgets and their look-and-feel. All the primary UNIX vendors
eventually settled on OSF's Motif (now The Open Group). In addition,
Motif is certifiable with repeatable results on all UNIX platforms, and has
hooks for Complex Text Layout for bi-directional output.

I lived the wars of News versus X11 and OpenLook versus Motif back in the
last 1980s and early 1990s. However, the GUI wars of the new millennium
between GTK, Qt, and Motif is a distinct possibility.

Will the LSB specification include multiple GUI widget sets & toolkits, not
have any mention of GUIs, or include at least one?

If Motif were open sourced by TOG, then would it be a candidate for the LSB
specification? What about LessTif as a substitute?
