Re: OT: rude behaviour
well you've got me there, you're right, that's what you did ask and I misunderstood. curse my optimism for thinking we were for a second talking about what software does instead of what it does not do. I also made numerous typos on my other reply to Nuno so let's nip that in the bud too while we're here; it's now Saturday afternoon where I am and that means I'm distracted, more on that later, so this is probably my last thought on the subject.
to answer your question correctly, no I do not expect any client to render my Gopher map correctly and you can find me on record saying exactly that.
but now we're dancing around the real point: that there's no discussion about Gopher on the Gopher mailing list. there wasn't for months.
now, to my distraction, I have a four year old daughter and this is going to blow your mind. she goes to a public preschool, a melting pot of cultures and languages, some of her best friends barely speak English. but you know what I did catch her talking to them about? daddy's Gopher space. so, in recent months, a flock of cackling preschool girls are talking more about Gopher in than the Gopher mailing list.
I'll drop the argument now because I got what I wanted. despite the Gopher mailing list's mailman setup being broken, the archive still works so now it's committed to communal memory how little the Gopher mailing list actually cares about Gopher, a protocol that despite the contrary wheezing I hear from the infirmary, I do deeply care about.
I look forward to having the same conversation when you all rise from your tombs next year.
