Re: [gopher] ML moderator election

I don't mind usenet at all - after all that would be a nice complement to gopher. But unfortunately I don't think there's any way to access usenet without paying for an account - and don't tell me to use Google.

So, does anyone know a working free nntp server?

+1 for Usenet

Using Google Groups to link the Usenet traffic to my gmail inbox seems fairly straightforward,
plus Usenet removes the need for someone volunteering to maintain infrastructure for a custom mailing list.

+1 for using comp.infosystems.gopher, I'm all in favor of using the

Same. I've subscribed to it anyway.

I completely understand that newsgroups are only more convenient for people who already use newsgroups though and mailing lists are less inconvenient for people who don't.
I'm just a lurker with nothing of interest on my gopher server so my vote's probably not worth much anyway.

Alistair.
