Re: [gopher] This game I have been working on might be of interest to Gopherites...

Haha, good point. I could create a method to register via telnet. Unfortunately Gopher may not work so well for this purpose. I could however create an "account" server which could be used for account management.

Once a character is created currently over HTTP, you really never have to access the website again. You can access the forums and soon the help center articles right from within the game(telnet).

Thank you very much for your feedback.

If any of you are on the #gopherproject IRC channel, you may have noticed a new presence there. Today I enabled IRC chat integration into the game's already made chat system. So now players of the game can seamlessly chat about gopher with people in the #gopherproject IRC channel. Now you can seamlessly chat gopher while beta testing. I will soon add gopher mailing list integration so that you can read through and reply back to messages on this list.

The gopher community is going to have a presence in this game whether they like it or not. I'm honestly not sure if I should put a "just kidding" after this bold statement or not... all I know is that after writing it, I couldn't stop laughing.

This new presence made me recognize the game. It’s all web‐centric now.
When I ask »HackersEdge« for »help« it doesn’t give me any info how to
connect via telnet or gopher or http.

And one big flaw: I can’t register via telnet or ssh. Why am I forced to
use such an inferior protocol like HTTP?
