Try FOSDEM part of "r-36.net" to see typical wrong use of type '0' item.

Indeed, type 0 should be human readable imo. It would certainly be annoying if servers started serving up gobbledeygook as type 0.

I too think it should be separate selector like uuencoded files are, so that clients that know they can't handle it can just ignore it.
