Ok, sounds like we agree this approach might be feasible.

I am reassigning to `debhelper` for now then and will look into this after the freeze.

Hi,

I have uploaded `debputy` to experimental with the `Commands` field if you want to do some early testing. The `debhelper` support will appear with the next upload of `debhelper` and then appear for any compat 14+ package.

```
# apt-cache show dh-debputy/experimental | grep ^Commands:
Commands: debputy, dh_debputy, dh_installdebputy
```
