Bug#1092884: apt search does not search Provides, it would be helpful if it did (like apt-cache search does)

Package: apt
Version: 2.6.1
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: bgravato+debianbugs@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

"apt-cache search foo" will return results that include "Provides: foo",
whereas "apt search foo" does not.

Also as far as I can tell, there is no search pattern to search
specifically for packages that provide "foo", similar to "aptitude search
~Pfoo".

It would be great if those two feature could be included in a future
version of apt.

Thank you,
BG
