Re: Bug#1041708: Bug#1051979: Do not suggest APT::Default-Release setting

Hi,

I should skip mentioning setting "APT::Default-Release" to whatever since
setting it in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/* tends to cause persistent confusing setting.

If someone dare to set such thing, use /etc/apt/preferences with PIN priority.
I have such example already with ample warnings.

Can we identify common use cases and provide specific solutions for those?

I mean, ideally people would need neither a Default-Release nor Pins, but for some reason they believe they do, because the description of what they do fits their problem.

My particular reason for setting a Default-Release was that I added sid sources as part of Debian development. That's probably not common for users -- so what other reasons are there?
