Bug#864197: Allow to match packages by their source name in apt_preferences
Package: apt
Version: 1.4.6
Severity: wishlist
In apt_preferences, would it possible to pin packages by their source name?
I'm a developer and I'm using pinning for several development packages. I
currently list the binary packages by hand, by really I'd like to match
packages by their source name in _most_ scenarios.
For packages such as llvm, it's cumbersome and error-prone to list all built
packages. Skipping one package will likely result in dependency issues due to
version mismatches. I'd rather match on "Source: llvm-toolchain-*". Likewise,
I'd like to match all packages built by "rustc".
This is true for almost all packages that build more than a single binary.
Would it be possible to extend apt_preferences so that in addition to Package
stanzas we also have Source?
