Package: apt Version: 0.6.46.2 Severity: wishlist The apt-key update functionality is very useful but it might be nice if the ARCHIVE_KEYRING and REMOVED_KEYS files wheren't hardcoded in the script: it might be handy for other people/organizations at some point to distribute different ARCHIVE_KEYRING and REMOVED_KEYS files and to make apt-key update from those... Can those values just be the default, with the possibility to override them on the command line or through the environment? Thanks! 'apt-key update' is subsequently deprecated. So that is supposed to be the better 'replacement' for what you asked for and I am therefore closing this bug now after … 5 … years of testing. ;) Distributions rebuilding apt can btw also change the keyring the binary apt package depends on quite easily with the vendor system introduced some time ago.
