Dear Maintainer,

apt-cache no longer provides the "--no-all-versions" but it is mentioned
in the man page. This option does work in wheezy but not in jessie.

$ apt-cache --no-all-versions apache2
E: Command line option --no-all-versions is not understood

Using "APT::Cache::AllVersions=0" does work.

… and later you add …

> --no-all-versions does work for the 'show' command but not for policy.


This is by design, see also my reply to #773021.
Basically, the commands fail because the option isn't supported by these
commands, while in earlier apt versions, we silently ignored them
causing much confusion about options not having the desired effect.


What exactly would be the point of "policy" accepting
"--no-all-versions" anyhow? It is kinda the point to have all versions
on display here, doesn't it? If there is a usecase, feel free to point
it out, so that it might be implemented in future.

With this reasoning, I am closing the bugreport as not-a-bug.
