Hi,

Pinning seems to be broken with APT 0.6. I'm using GNOME 2.10 from
experimental so I have an /etc/apt/preferences file (included below),
which worked fine with apt-0.5.28.6. However, apt-0.6.36 does not let me
install packages from experimental: "apt-get upgrade -t experimental"
does nothing.

For example:

$ apt-cache policy gnome-applets-data
gnome-applets-data:
  Installed: 2.10.1-1
  Candidate: 2.10.1-1
  Version table:
     2.10.1-2 0
          1 http://ftp.fi.debian.org project/experimental/main/binary-i386/ Packages
 *** 2.10.1-1 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.8.2-1 0
        990 http://ftp.fi.debian.org unstable/main Packages

According to /etc/apt/preferences version 2.10.1-2 should have priority 101, not 1.

Hi,

initially the bug is about a change in the distribution of experimental in 2005
(it is nowadays a "real" incomplete release pocket - not a flat archive).

Later it talks about the documentation which changed over the course of the
last few years, was recently reviewed by d-l10n-english and to my mail
three years ago I received no answer. So i am closing this bug now for good.

If you think this is wrong, feel free to reopen it.

Best regards

David Kalnischkies
