Bug#601961: apt: wrongly thinks install-info is essential - backport fix to stable?

I can work around this in piuparts - or rather the custom scripts used
for the archive wide tests (although I'd like to keep the distribution
specific workarounds limited - and I don't want to enable --force-yes
for a full distribution)
So if you don't want to fix this in squeeze it's fine.

I only run
  apt-get remove -y $PACKAGES_NOT_IN_REFERENCE_LIST
and look at the exit code.
