Package: apt Version: 0.7.11 Severity: wishlist When Package a depends on a virtual package B which is provided by the packages X (Priority: optional) and Y (Priority: standard), apt should install the package Y. Because AFAIK, apt currently installs the package with the "smaller" name (i.e. A instead of B). Preferring the package with higher priority means in many cases that the number of its dependencies is lower than the number of dependencies of the other package. -- Julian Andres Klode, Fellow of the Free Software Foundation Europe Debian Maintainer | Developer | Ubuntu Member try Debian: http://www.debian.org/ | my site: http://jak-linux.org/ jabber: juliank@jabber.org | IRC: juliank (FreeNode, OFTC) languages: German | EnglishAttachment: signature.asc

notfound 473247 0.7.11 thanks The usage of pkgPrioSortList in depcache.cc MarkInstall suggests that this is already implemented and a quick look at 'bzr blame' says that it is there for quiet a while (since revision 615) so without further ado lets close that and never talk about it again. ;) Best regards David Kalnischkies
