Package: apt
Version: 0.7.11
Severity: wishlist

When Package a depends on a virtual package B which is provided by the packages
X (Priority: optional) and Y (Priority: standard), apt should install the package Y.

Because AFAIK, apt currently installs the package with the "smaller" name (i.e.
A instead of B).

Preferring the package with higher priority means in many cases that the number
of its dependencies is lower than the number of dependencies of the other package.

thanks

The usage of pkgPrioSortList in depcache.cc MarkInstall suggests
that this is already implemented and a quick look at 'bzr blame'
says that it is there for quiet a while (since revision 615) so
without further ado lets close that and never talk about it again. ;)

Best regards

David Kalnischkies
