For the wishlist:
When I installed my current version of Debian, I used aptitude from the console because aptitude produces very useful log files. I suggest that synaptic, aptitude, apt, dpkg, etc. all use the same databases and log files.

That "bugreport" is never really closable and/or fixable.

Better get a specific usecase and propose a specific file (format) to share.
I am therefore closing this metabug now, but feel encouraged to
open new ones for specific things - even better at the specific client
you want that it shares his information with the rest of the APT-world.

The following files exist btw and are used and/or populated as long
as libapt is used which is the case for APT itself, synaptics, aptitude, …

Logs:
/var/log/dpkg.log -- status changes of packages from dpkg
/var/log/apt/term.log -- the output of dpkg executed by APT
/var/log/apt/history.log -- actions executed by APT

shared datafiles:
/var/lib/dpkg/status -- installed packages
/var/lib/apt/extended_states -- additional information about (installed)
    packages, e.g. if the package was automatically installed


Additional files are maybe used by some clients to provide addition
features - in a perfect world these features would be included in libapt
to have them available for all clients, but that can't be the job of the
(few) APT maintainers to monitor all clients and backport them…
