Package: apt
Version: 0.5.3
Severity: wishlist

I see no means of fetching dsc file (thought there was a --dsc-only at
some time, but seems I was wrong). Anyway dsc's are so light that
it'd not be a big deal to add them to the download.

They would give more confidence in the source, as those are signed.

Hi,

apt-get source has a --dsc-only option to be able to only get the dsc.

Furthermore the --diff-only option suggests to the user that it will
download only the diff, so downloading the dsc also - even if it is small -
seems like an unexpected result.

For a good trusted path the dsc file is also not strictly needed:
The downloaded files are checked by apt with Checksums included
in the Sources file which itself is checked by Checksums included
in the Release file which is signed with an archive key.

I am therefore closing this bug now as it is also pretty old,
but feel free to reopen it if you disagree and/or intend to discuss
this further.

Best regards,

David Kalnischkies
