Yes, this would be a very valid option to get the feature in -
apt-ftparchive doesn't have a maintainer currently who takes
care of features and/or bugs and is therefore in (very) low
maintenance mode, but if you have a patch and/or you
are willing to write one i will try to help you as much as possible
to get it into the official version. Features like the recently added
--arch option (in experimental) are the best example for it…
