Bug#552625: apt-ftparchive: Does not allow generation of multiversion Packages files
Package: apt-utils
Version: 0.7.22.2
Severity: normal
Hi,
There does not appear to be any way to instruct apt-ftparchive to generate
multiversion package files. I consider this a bug and not a wishlist item
because the documentation states,
apt-ftparchive is a superset of the dpkg-scanpackages(8) program,
incorporating its entire functionality via the packages command. It
also contains a contents file generator, contents, and an elaborate
means to ´script´ the generation process for a complete archive.
and dpkg-scanpackages has a --multiversion option.
Either apt-ftparchive should be fixed to support multiversion Pacakges
files (this would be the preferred option IMHO), or the documentation needs
to be updated to reflect that apt-ftparchive is actually a subset of the
dpkg-scanpackages program.
Thanks,
Tyler
