the bug submitter's message isn't entirely clear about what he wants
to be able to do.  another option is apt-show-versions.  for example,
if you are running etch:

$ sudo apt-get install apt-show-versions
$ apt-show-versions | grep -v etch

would show all packages currently installed that did not come from the
etch repository.
