I have a question/idea about the rred code.
Why are the index patches applied after every download instead of
combining them all together into a single patch?
If any of the patches fails then it is always a total failure and the
full index file has to be downloaded. So there is little point in
tracking individual errors. It seems wastefull to read, parse, patch,
write the index file many times if it could easily be done in a single
invocation.
