After updating to 0.6.43.2 on IA64, I see:

      # apt-get update
      apt-get: error while loading shared libraries:
      libapt-pkg-libc6.3-6.so.3.10: cannot open shared object file: No such
      file or directory


The version of libapt-pkg-libc6.3-6.so in the package is 3.11

The problem is an interaction with dpkg-cross, which installs its own
version of apt-get, but doesn't update the packages database to say it
has done it.  I'd forgotten I had a pre-release version of dpkg-cross
installed.
