Bug#299307: apt-cache eat up all the memory and SWAP

Error description:

I have put the screenshot on my Server at:

I have 256 MB of memory and a SWAP of 200 MByte.

For some minutes apt-cache has killed some processe and
I had no keyboard, no sshd and nothing else...

Had to HARDRESET my Computer.

Please note, that I have this problem on SARGE (updated
today) too. So it is not only a WOODY issue.
