OK, great.  I also uploaded these packages to unstable yesterday.  I used
the default urgency, though (I didn't think of it), so you may want to ask a
release manager to accelerate their acceptance into testing.

Yes it does:

apt (0.5.27.1) warty; urgency=low

  * Set default Dpkg::MaxArgs to 1024, and Dpkg::MaxArgBytes to 32k.  Needed
    to work around ordering bugs which can break the desktop install.
    (works around bug #172339)

This was a copy of a branch which I made for the Ubuntu 4.10 release, where
we ran into the same problem at the last minute.  Since I was making an
upload anyway, I also included the trivial fix for #282700.

I may also make another upload including translation updates, given some
assistance collecting the various updates to 0.5 into a patch (apt mainline
has since moved on, and the most recent po files in arch are not suitable
for Sarge).
