Version: 0.5.27
Severity: wishlist

It could be useful that apt-get allows select the release of paackages
that we want to install. That is, that apt-get allow to do

apt-get install pkg1 pkg2 --testing

that it were equivalent to apt-get install pkg1/testing pkg2/testing.

It were insteresting if the list of packages is (too) long.

Thanks in advance,
Xan.

PS: Seeing the bug database, I see that apt has a lot of feature
request. Perhaps a "feature squash party" couuld be interesting. ;-)

       -t, --target-release, --default-release
This option controls the default input to the policy engine, it
creates a default pin at priority 990 using the specified reâ??
lease string. The preferences file may further override this
setting. In short, this option lets you have simple control over
which distribution packages will be retrieved from. Some common
examples might be -t â??2.1*â?? or -t unstable. Configuration Item:
APT::Default-Release; see also the apt_preferences(5) manual
              page.
