Hi I can reproduce this bug on an i386 machine (Athlon). I upgraded memory to 1.5GB and rebooted with a BIGMEM enabled kernel. Right after the reboot apt-get, apt-cache (and apt started by dselect) started to segfault (strace last line was a stat64 on some file in /var/lib/apt/lists). (Multiple apt-get updates failed. Not even an upgrade, source or install did work). The "solution" was a "rm -f /var/cache/apt/*.bin", a re-run of apt-get update and it works again. (My kernel is 2.4.22, everything else latest sid if that matters). -- bye Joerg <Ganneff> kde und tastatur? passt doch nicht mit dem nutzerprofil "windepp" zusammen :)
