New experimental version of APT with DDTP Support

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

The DDTP team and the Debian-BR project are proud to announce the
new public release of APT featuring support for translated package
descriptions.

The initial message on this topic can be found in
debian-devel-announce mailing list archives[1].

1. http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2002/debian-devel-announce-200210/msg00004.html

This experimental release was based upon the last cvs version of APT
and was implemented by Debian-BR member and Debian Developer Otavio
Salvador <otavio@debian.org>. Complete sources and patches are
available[2].

	     2. http://people.debian.org/~otavio/sid/apt

This doesn't include any new feature against the last release[3] but
remove bugs of previous upstream version using the current release
code for base and some patches in BTS.

3. http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2003/debian-devel-announce-200305/msg00018.html

You may upgrade your Debian unstable system to this experimental APT
version by adding the following line to your sources.list :

	     deb http://people.debian.org/~otavio sid apt

The sources for the deb packages (if you want to build them yourself)
can be retrieved by adding the following line to your sources.list :

	   deb-src http://people.debian.org/~otavio sid apt

Since translation files are not yet included in the official mirrors,
you will need to add one of the DDTP servers to your sources.list in
order to fetch the needed translation files and actually see the
translated descriptions. For example, you may add the following line
to your sources.list :

       deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-ddtp/ unstable main

There are two ways to specify the language to be used in package
descriptions:

 - set your LC_MESSAGES environment variable to the desired
   language (eg. LC_MESSAGES=pt_BR); or

 - set the APT::Acquire::Translation option in your apt.conf to
the desired language by adding the following line to your apt.conf :

		  APT::Acquire::Translation "pt_BR";

Since this version is not yet integrated into Debian, bug reports
and patches should be sent to Otavio Salvador <otavio@debian.org>.
