Hi,I can't experience any problems with apt 0.5.5.1 under the Hurd. The error reported can happen only for ftp lines in sources list and I have one.
Robert, can you at least give the error number returned by getaddrinfo? Put printf right before apt-0.5.5.1/methods/ftp.cc:720 (just before the error message you reported)
