Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/apt-cache

apt-cache manpage:
       -a

       --all-versions
              Print full records for all available versions, this is only
              applicable to the show command. Configuration Item:
              APT::Cache::AllVersions.

that's funny. i was looking for a way to stop this apparently
atrocious _default_ behavior.

wait, I found it, apt-cache --no-all-versions show
well, mention it there, you do for other --no's
and stop showing all versions by default!

wait, even though you say 'only applicable to the show command', i bet
it got bent to this weird state to fix some other problem, and the
bender forgot it also affects this command. so bend it back with
caution. I.e. i am worried a global APT::Cache::AllVersions=no will
screw something else up, but i didnt check the source though.

At the top of the OPTIONS section:

OPTIONS
       All command line options may be set using the configuration file, the
       descriptions indicate the configuration option to set. For boolean
       options you can override the config file by using something like
       -f-,--no-f, -f=no or several other variations.
