Bug#175938: apt: Need to get 499MB, 54.9MB will be used
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Followup-For: Bug #175938
> uh oh... "may" ... then I hope it has a negative sign attached...
It will say "Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 8192B will be freed."
Happy?
As for your concerns over the phrasing of the message, I don't think it's
all that important. After a couple times using apt-get, it becomes obvious
what they mean. I don't think writing software that is so verbose it
doesn't need a manual is a bad idea, and if you don't read the manual, you
have to be willing to figure things out. OTOH, maybe a wording change could
make things clearer: "... of archives. Unpacking will use xMB." That
implies that the unpacking of the package will increase your disk usage by
that much, rather than that after unpacking, x amount of space will be used,
total.
