Hi,
Using dselect, apt is removing the *.debs for sendmail version
8.12.6-6 even though this version is installed and on hold. The
version 8.12.6-7 is the available version according to the
Packages file.

This is the documented and only sensible behavior. hold/etc have no effect
on the cache cleanup routine.
