Hmm... installing with dpkg by hand seemd to work though.

Indeed. Apparently pbuilder doesn't keep separate base.tgz's for different
values of --distribution, which caused what I thought to be a pure woody
environment to contain sid packages. After a fresh "pbuilder create
--distribution woody" things are fine. Looks like I'll have to study a bit
more on pbuilder.
