Those of us who have not yet dared to establish a direct internet connection between our Linux box have to use the 'file' or 'copy' style of apt config line. In this case I cannot see why apt cannot generate the Packages file itself. My attached make file I believe does this. It seems to work. I hope you can take this idea up. Nicholas Bamber
