Bug#127648: Severity

severity 127648 important
thanks

It looks to me like this bug does not break any unrelated software, only apt
itself. And unless there are entries in the official Debian package lists
which trigger this bug, it shouldn't be considered release-critical.

I made copy of the Packages file that Bastien Nocera sent in
<[🔎] 1011487765.615.11.camel@dozo> and added an entry to sources.list pointing
to it. apt-get update succeeded, apt-get check succeeded, and I test
remove/installed a package with no problems, so I am not able to reproduce
this bug.

Did you test the XFS theory by symlinking /var/lib/apt (or wherever you
believe the bug is triggered) to a directory on a different filesystem?

If you can still reliably reproduce the segfault, you may want to build a
libapt-pkg with debugging symbols and investigate further.
