Bug#126450: apt: Puzzling behavior when package binary not available for architecture
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Severity: minor
I was trying to install mpsql. I saw it had stable and unstable
versions at packages.debian.org. apt-get returned:
Couldn't find package mpsql
This was puzzling to me, I finally navigated manually to pool/m/mpsql
and found that there was no powerpc version, only i386 and alpha.
This will become a more common occurrence as we continue to add more
architectures, I'd like to suggest a different message when this happens,
such as:
"Package %s unavailable for %s in %s distribution at %s",
"mpsql", "powerpc", "unstable", "mirrors.kernel.org/debian"
-- System Information
