Bug#108968: apt: apt problem resolver is sadly confused.
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.3
Severity: normal
Apt has been spouting this sort of nonsense since the last update.
Here's a mild example.
# apt-get -u dselect-upgrade
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
bsdmainutils: Conflicts: textutils (< 2.0-1) but 2.0-8 is to be installed
defoma: Conflicts: defoma-ps (< 0.2.4) but it is not installable
libnspr-cvs4: Conflicts: libnspr20 but it is not installable
ssh: Conflicts: sftp but it is not installable
xine-dvd-css: Conflicts: xine (< 0.4.0) but 0.4.3-1 is to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
E: Internal Error, problem resolver broke stuff
