Package: apt
Version: 0.5.3
Severity: wishlist

ruediger@wh36-a402:/usr/src/cross> apt-get -d --print-uris install libc6-dev
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
ruediger@wh36-a402:/usr/src/cross>

It would be nice if apt-get could revert to download the file to the current
directory if it is called not as root. And/or an option to print URLs where
the package would be fetched from would be nice.

There is such an option and there is no point in a tool like apt doing
downloads to ., use wget.
